Janesville Swift Night Out #1

WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP COUNT CHIMNEY SWIFTS IN JANESVILLE?

The chimney at Washington Elementary School has in the past hosted over a thousand of congregating chimney swifts this time of year, but so far has shown none. Bird City Janesville conducts a simultaneous count at various chimneys around the city to get an accurate count of the population on two Sundays during the migration period.  For this one, after much reconnaissance, we will meet at the parking lot for the Senior Center, which gives a vantage point of several chimneys in the downtown area that may be hosting hundreds of swifts at night.   Volunteers from Green Rock Audubon will be present to talk about chimney swifts and binoculars will be available to borrow.  Bring a lawn chair.
