About the event
The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a community science project that involves volunteers counting the number and species of birds they see or hear in a 15-mile diameter circle over a 24-hour period. The CBC is a long-running wildlife census that provides valuable scientific data on bird population trends. The count helps inform conservation efforts and provides insight into the health of bird populations. The CBC began in 1900 as an alternative to hunting birds on Christmas Day.
The Beloit CBC is centered in Afton and includes parts of both Janesville and Beloit. It is organized by the Ned Hollister Bird Club and has been around since 1990. If interested in information on volunteering, contact Brad Paulson by email at bradp@ruppseeds.com
